Last update before starting the crazy crossing

Alright, I’ve spent almost a week in Cairns now. It’s a very nice small city with a definitive Asian feel to it, probably cause of the hordes of Japanese tourists that flock down here to enjoy the Reef and the rainforest. It’s also a very poor friendly town hence it’s very easy to get free meal vouchers on the streets, in every backpacker hostel and literally, people are throwing these things at you, and it’s quite nice to be able to walk in and eat for free every night of the week. Even saves dishwashing solution. The ascent up here from Brisbane was a breeze, almost 2000 km driven in a week or just about that stopping anywhere a bloody harvest was, without any luck in finding any work. And as you already know, I decided to leave Australia because it’s not where I belong. But since I’m still here up to july 1st, and I need to make it to Perth to fly out, the above is the visual sketch of the crazy trip I’m about to embark starting later today.
Whoever we are talking to, they say we are crazy for even thinking of making it. Honestly, with all the traveling I’ve done in the past year, and in far worst conditions without my own vehicle, I’m everything but worried about this. It is indeed a longish, sluggish almost 5000 km haul across the nation, but who would still attempt to call me a Monkey Motherfucker if I caught a frigging plane? The plan of staying in Australia for work vanished, but still, I’m here to try to get the maximum I can from this experience, and see as much as I can too, so here I am, let’s do it. And the rest of the coast of Western Australia, I’m sorry, I’m still doubtful whenever its going to happen.
I was just talking with Paolo Tripmaitrop, and he said he wanted to send me an email telling me to stop, and stay where I really wanted to. Where? At the moment, its’ Penang, Malaysia, for my special woman. But it won’t necessarily have to be Penang forever, because as long as I’m staying with that special woman, and I’ll be fine. I found out, almost sadly, that I am BORED of traveling now, and this can’t be. So, its time to stop somewhere and prepare myself for… India, probably. Yes, dudes. Take me as far away as possible form the western world, because I’m sick of it, and please, don’t call me WHITE man. I decided I’m PINK, from today. Pink matches yellow quite nicely, I think. Not white.
Well anyways, in brief, you can see form the google map pasted above that we are going to cut the country on an almost transversal route, skipping the Simpson Desert for obvious reasons (we don’t have a 4wd car), and crossing South Australia outback. The main stops are going to be, in order, the Atherton tablelands, Normanton and the Gulf of Carpentaria, Mount Isa, tennant Creek, the Devil’s Marbles, Alice Springs and the Uluru turist circus (I can’t skip that), Coober Pedy, maybe Adelaide again, then we’ll cross the Nullarbour Plain to get in the southwestern part of WA before arriving finally in Perth. We’ll see how much time we’re going to spend on the trip, and accordingly plan my last june weeks in Australia.
I’m really hoping I’ll be finding something special, that something I’ve been looking for for 2 and a half months now, and didnt find here. I’m sure something will click, and the experience will change in a more positive one. And then, I’ll be finally coming home… and no mom, I’m sorry, that’s not Voghera. It’s somewhere in South East Asia, at the moment. Ok, off we go, if you won’t read me again for a few weeks, dont panic, if it will be for a month or two, panic, because that means I’m dead somewhere in the Red Centre.Â

Goditi l’Australia.
