In India… again!!!

Bhubaneswar ghat In India… again!!!
Freedom in year 2012 has the taste of India: a sensation which resembles being sandwiched in between the oily D-cup sized bosoms of a fat Goddess, at 40 degrees Celsius. It definitely stinks and sucks, but after all, still feels like a woman.

Let me tell you, I love India as much as I hate it: chaotic, smelly, pretty dirty, but also divine, sublime, naturalistically beautiful, and so sacred it is impossible to put it into plain words. (more…)

An Interesting Piece of Research

Please take one hour of your time to check out this documentary put together by a crew of  very “special travelers”. I found it thanks to a friend and had a very good time watching it. These guys have made their passion a full time job which is taking them around the world.  I thought this may be inspirational for many of you following me out there, plus it is indeed a great teaser of some of the areas of Northwest India I will be visiting in around two months time.

Relax, kick back and enjoy, and check out what some of these crazy Italians have done with their lives… maybe  questionable choices, but definitely enlightening. Think over it!

(more…)

chronicle 83 500x416 Travel for Aid: Ending Up in Goa...

Day 516, chronicle 083, Ratnagiri (N20°42.388′ E070°54.786′) India, 9 March 2011 12:45 pm –

My permanence on the island of Diu continued until the last possible day before, we had to join Giulio and Chiara, two dear friends from Tuscany and already my fellow travellers in the north of Thailand just a year ago, who were waiting for us in Mumbai. Therefore, on February 27, Giacomo, the bicycle on the roof and I embarked on the deluxe-sleepers bus covering the distance to Mumbai in 22 hours. These types of buses do not have seats but only single and double bunks to sit with legs crossed or lie down, even if they miss just that couple of inches to be able to fully stretch one’s legs. Day 504, chronicle 082, Diu (N20°42.388′ E070°54.786′) India, 25 February 2011 03:20 pm -

With my faithful friend Giacomo, in the late afternoon of Febuary 17, I arrived in Ahmedabad in the Indian state of Gujarat, where I was waited by Mr Iqbal Baig and Mr Ashish Mehta, respectively, manager and coordinator of various social and humanitarian projects funded by the CIAI. After a brief meeting in the offices of their association, Samerth Trust, we scheduled visits of hostels in  four villages Gagoder, Balaser, Amrabar and Jatawada, at about 150 km from the city. Day 495, chronicle 081, Udaipur (N24°34.331′ E073°42.128′) India, 16 February 2011 11:45 pm -

On the morning of February 7th, I visited the Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust in Delhi, a school for children from disadvantaged families, psychomotor rehabilitation centre and hospital specialized for handicapped patients. There I was followed by Sunny Kaul, a young reporter sent by the Printing Press Trust India, who is moving his first steps in this profession and who wrote a nice article full of youthful passion, wonder and a bit ‘of naivety, published by several other Indian newspapers. Day 481, chronicle 080, Delhi (N28°31.488′ E077°08.069′ ) India, 3 February 2011 03:10 pm -

On 16 January, I left the seductive Varanasi with the words of the Dalai Lama still turning around in my head, and I reached the city of Allahabad where Rajat and his extended family waited for me. They are family members of my Indian friend Pushkar, who introduced me to relatives and acquaintances already in other cities in the subcontinent, where I stayed as a guest. (more…)
