Wow. If I think back at how things have developed for me in the past year and a half, I almost cannot believe how lucky – or determined – I have been.
There are, in fact, great things about to happen to me on the writing front. Without giving away too much now, I want to look back at the recent past.
In 2012, I set off for an odyssey around half the world, with a burning desire to make it bigger and better with my writing. Not only I managed to hitchhike most of the way from Asia to Europe, but I also kept writing, here and here, on and off, from mountains and prairies, compatibly with my continuous movements.
Then, in November 2012 I returned to Malaysia, and started my PhD research.
Why did you want to start a PhD of all things, you may ask?
Well, to learn how to write better, and more “widely”. And also because I felt I needed increased balance to build up my portfolio. Hence, freelance collaborations started to come, and as of today I can say there is more in the making that I can almost deal with.
And no, I don’t miss travelling too much. I am thinking of future trips, for sure, but as of now, I feel kind of fine as settled as I am.
In fact, from December 2012 to the early months of 2013, staying put helped me do something that will make myself VERY proud soon. Again, I don’t want to give away too much today, BUT… I want to start preparing you, sweeping the floor a bit, tidy up the place, before I can unleash the certainty of the near future. Very few of you already know, and I beg you to keep the secret for just a short while longer.
I have always loved a “surprise effect” Until then… keep doing what you can do best in life.
