Thanks to all those who came to Nazi Goreng‘s Singapore presentations: it was a fantastic time at the Substation with its punk and skinhead audience. Also, at the Singapore Writers Festival I was surprised to see quite a few other people I would have never imagined might be interested in my novel!!
The book is getting rave reviews and a huge amount of Facebook shares and buzz. Apparently, many have “heard a lot about it”. Really? Well, this is making me extremely happy. Mike Dines said that “Nazi Goreng, is a book that admirably combines the distinguishing qualities of travel writing, subcultural insight and thriller genre. If Ferrarese has written in a lucid style, then his subject matter is also handled well, as the book balances the many diverse strands of Malaysian culture, including Islamic Faith, subcultural movements (such as punk and skinhead culture) and the many racial tensions that exist within a crammed cityscape.“
Dorothy Cheng went as far as saying that “Ferrarese’s unique narrative and insightful evaluation of Malaysian culture takes the novel to new heights, promising to be one of the best contemporary novels about this whirlwind of a country we might ever see.”
Well, what to say?? ROCK ON!!
By the way, if you are in Penang, head to Popular Gurney Plaza where Nazi Goreng is now been launched with a 20% discount… look for it under the Local Authors section. No, I’m not a local, but it feels cool to be mistaken as one
