Kerala: Backwaters and more

Kerala was my first stop in India: verdant, hot, extremely humid and beautiful. One of the most progressive and rich states, Kerala is a feast for the heart and eyes. These are pictures from the first part of my trip.

Kochi

The main center of Kerala, far more bustling and interesting than capitol city Trivandrum, Kochi might be touristy, but definitely has some particular angles to it. The fact we arrived in low season was just an additional advantage to enjoy its shady colonial streets....

Munnar & Ididkki

On the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, the Western Ghats have a great deal of natural beauty and incredible people. If Munnar was somewhat of a tourist trap, the time we spent off the beaten track in Idikki was the most rewarding of the whole trip...

The Lost World of Hampi

There is not much else to say... Hampi was great. Although being touristy, this attraction of Karnataka state feels as relaxed as you were the only people there. Char Minar

Going to Hyderabad's Char Minar was like stepping in the Middle East... a powerful place, full of the ancient Mogul's dynasties' feel still haunting the streets.

Tiruvannamalai

One of the most sacred temple cities in Southern India, a strong taste of Tamil Nadu and temple architecture...

Pondicherry, Auroville and the Coromandel Coast

The former French colonies of India have a very different feel to the rest of the country. Auroville is a spacey trip immersed in a deserted forest. Pondicherry feels like strolling along some rue francaise, without knowing in which decade you are walking in.
